# Recoup for Gorgias: setup guide

Install Recoup from the Gorgias App Store, approve read-only access, then press Run the audit. Recoup reads your recent tickets and the Shopify orders Gorgias already holds, finds every refund, credit or discount an agent promised, and tells you which ones were never paid. Nothing in Gorgias or Shopify is changed.

## What you need

- A Gorgias account with admin rights, so you can approve an app.

- Shopify connected to Gorgias. Recoup reads orders from the Shopify data Gorgias already shows in the customer sidebar. Without it, Recoup can still list every promise, but cannot check it against an order.

## 1. Install

- In Gorgias, open the App Store and find Recoup: AI Agent Refund Audit.

- Press the button to connect it. Gorgias asks you to approve read-only access to tickets and customers. Press Allow.

- You land on the Recoup report page for your account.

## 2. Run the audit

- Pick how many recent tickets to check (100 to 1,000) and whether to check AI Agent replies only or every agent's replies.

- Press Run the audit. Recoup reads the tickets, their messages and each customer's Shopify orders through the Gorgias API. A progress bar shows how far it has got.

- Large accounts take a few minutes, because Gorgias limits how fast an app may read.

## 3. Read the report

- Tickets checked and Money promises: how many tickets were read, and how many contained a refund, store credit, discount or replacement offer.

- Mismatches: each promise that was not paid as written in the customer's Shopify order, with the ticket, what was promised, the exact sentence, the order and the reason.

- At stake: the total value of the mismatches.

- Each mismatch links straight to its Gorgias ticket. Download CSV exports the full list.

Matching uses written rules, not a language model. Every finding shows the sentence and the order line behind it. See security and data access.

## Permissions

 | customers:read | Read the Shopify orders Gorgias holds for each customer.

 | openid, email, offline | Identify the account and keep the connection without asking you to sign in every day.

Recoup asks for no write scopes. It cannot reply to tickets, change tags or touch orders.

## Disconnect

Press Disconnect Recoup at the bottom of the report page. Recoup revokes its Gorgias access and deletes the stored token at once. You can also remove the app in Gorgias under Settings, then Integrations.
